Reduced Radiation

Radiography, CT and Nuclear Medicine involve some radiation dose to the patient. This should not prevent you from having the diagnostic imaging that your doctor or specialist has requested. Modern imaging techniques are designed to achieve the best imaging to answer diagnostic questions with the minimum radiation dose to the patient.

At OMI Palmyra our staff are experts in these techniques and are continuously reviewing our procedures to minimise your exposure.

Our techniques include:

  • Shielding of radiosensitive structures during
  • Digital radiography – which allows fewer repeat radiographs and also has reduced radiation dose
  • CT fluoroscopy which involves a lower dose for many radiological procedures than conventional fluoroscopy
  • Low dose nuclear medicine studies for children and young adults using the special features of our Philips Brightview gamma camera.
